This pear recipe is ideal for the chilly weather!
We have our apple crisps and coffee cakes, but this year, I’m all pears. A simple evening calls for a simple dessert! So I gathered my honey, spices, and nuts to create a roasted pears recipe that tastes like it’s for special occasions. Either way, you can make it for any weeknight dessert!
This is one of those easy recipes that turns into a delicious dessert in less than 1 hour. Only 10 minutes of prep and 30 minutes of baking! Only a short cooking time, and you can relax to enjoy your evening.
What are the flavors in this fall fruit dessert?
Sweet coconut sugar, cinnamon, and a little bit of vanilla flavors are the ultimate combination. They can make any fruit recipe go from zero to one hundred quite quickly! It’s no different when it comes to warm pears! Sweetened with honey, you can choose your favorite pears to make this recipe with.
What is the best pear to bake with?
Most popular are Anjou pears or Forelle pears. The Anjou variety has a tinge of citrus flavor, while Forelle pears are commonly sweet and have a cinnamon flavor. You can find these varieties of pears at any grocery store.
I would not recommend Bartlett pears since they’re soft and are best for eating fresh. The variety of pear you use is important since it can change the base flavors of the entire dish. Make sure that you’re using ripe pears.
Key Ingredients
Pears of course! I recommend a pear variety that isn’t too soft so that they bake well and don’t get too mushy.
Honey to sweeten up and add a rich, smooth flavor to this recipe.
Earl Grey Tea for the rich flavor it can add. The bergamot in Earl Grey tea adds a citrusy flavor that pairs well with pears.
Coconut sugar adds sweetness to the cinnamon mixture. It’s a great alternative to regular sugar.
Cornstarch to help thicken the syrup mixture.
Cinnamon because it’s the ultimate warming spice! It’s almost impossible to make a tasty fall dessert without it!
Vanilla extract for a warm and familiar flavor balance.
Cashews and pecans to add a crunchy topping!
